Give legal backing, necessary support to GNASSM in fighting galamsey- Kwaku Duah

Kwaku Duah, the Ashanti regional Organiser for Small Scale Miners Association has called on the President Nana Akufo-Addo to offer the necessary support, Legal backing and direction to Ghana National Associaton of  Small Scale Miners ( GNASSM ) to fight illegal small scale mining popularly known as 'galamsey' in the country.

According to him, the Association has about One Hundred and Fifty (150) Taskforce in mining regions and can recruit more to fight against galamsey if, necessary support is given.

Speaking at a press conference, Kwaku Duah assured that, the Association would prevent the wanton destruction of the environment, particularly water bodies, vegetation cover and other natural resources for sustainable development.

He urged the public to desist from politicizing the fight against galamsey since that gave the offenders hope to destroy land and water bodies.
