The International Day of Girl Child was declared by the United Nations to amplify the voices of young girls around the world and resolve issues surrounding them.

A  Girl Child Advocate, Mrs Adwoa Yeboah Owusu Danso has said the situation of girl children in Ghana has improved

Speaking with Kwabena Obeng Akofi on Ark in the Morning monitored by Soireenews, Mrs Adwoa Yeboah Owusu Danso who doubles as a counsellor said the female children are no more restricted in terms of climbing the academic ladder, unlike the previous years.

She is of the view that girls when given the opportunity can make Ghana a better country.

She made her words known when speaking on the International Day of Girl Child; an international observance day declared by the United Nations celebrated for empowering and amplifying the voices of young girls around the world.

The theme for this year is "Digital generation, Our generation." International Day of the Girl Child could be described as the brainchild of the World Conference on Women.

Mrs Adwoa Yeboah Owusu Danso advised parents not to hold back the progress of their girl child especially at home.
