Top-notch Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo, has stated the need for evolution in Ghana's movie industry.

He outlined that the movie industry looks dead because it has refused to flow along with the new mechanisms that have been developed over time.

The ace TV personality, now turned politician, revealed that the failure to rise up to the new challenges means the growth of the industry has been suffocated.

The one-time actor highlighted the issues while speaking during an interview on Citi TV, as he stated that the movie industry has stopped progressing as it should because it fails to catch up to the digital era since no one uses VCDs again.

"We are lacking transformation onto the technological platforms, ten years ago a lot of people did not know about Netflix, the success of a film is based on the number of CDs you sell."

"Now everything is online, it left for us to be able to migrate on to the digital platforms,” he said while speaking to the host, Umaru Sanda.

John Dumelo affirmed that the industry is not dead since it can be propelled by a few tweaks.

The use of smartphones and computers to propagate the products would surely enhance the income generated by the industry.

He encouraged industry players to take advantage of these avenues to display their movies and gain more recognition for Ghana's industry.
