The Minority leader of Parliament, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu has accused the Nana Akufo Addo government of irresponsible borrowing.

Member of Parliament for Tamale South who doubles as the Minority Leader of Ghana's Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu has stated that the Nana Addo led administration has made Ghana a debt distressed country.

He made the submission on the floor of the house during his contributions to the mid-year budget review debate.

According to him, the National Debt of the country stands at $340billion which in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) estimation is almost 80.3%.

Speaking to the issue, he said John Mahama led government was accused of irresponsible borrowing but this government can't even account for their so call responsible borrowing.

He added that Ghana's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has increased drastically from 56.8% from 2016 to 77.1% to date. 

The Majority leader who doubles as the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs also argued that the economy but for Covid-19 was in good hands under this government.
