Galamsey Pit Kills a 35 Year Old Kwame Antwi at Nweneso Number One in the Ashanti Region. .

A 35-year-old Kwame Antwi has been killed at a galamsey pit at Nweneso Number One in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region.
The incident happened on Sunday, July 3, 2022, after several galamseyers attempted to attend to their activities in their pit.
Narrating the incident, the Assembly Member for Nweneso Number one, Honourable Kwame Atinka said, the young man as he is affectionately called Romeo, went to their site with three other friends to mine at their galamsey pit.
Unfortunately, Romeo fell into the pit mistakenly and the pit caved in on him at that instance, and died instantly in the process of rescuing his body.
He revealed that the remains had since been conveyed by the police of Nweneso and deposited at the Toase Government Hospital for autopsy and preservation.
The Assembly Member affirming the incident that whether Nananom and himself, as an assembly member and his unit committee members, are aware of the galamsey activities in the area, the Honourable Member affirmed that, "Yes, we are all aware of the Galamsey work including Nananom but nothing can be done about the situation as most of the youth doesn't have any work to do apart from resorting to the galamsey activities.
