Ga Royal Elders Jab Nana Akufo-Addo For Supporting King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II Who Was Installed In Private House At Darkuman
They described as shameful and embarrassing for the whole former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to be given unflinching support to King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II who was unlawfully installed at Nii Hanson Private House at Darkuman in Accra.

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has incurred the wrath of accredited kingmakers, elders, and representatives of the Ga Paramount Stool Dzase for imposing King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II as a rival Ga Mantse on the good people in the Ga State.
They described as shameful and embarrassing for the whole former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to be given unflinching support to King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II who was unlawfully installed at Nii Hanson Private House at Darkuman in Accra.
They pointed out that former President Nana Akufo-Addo has made it claer in public event that has it not be him, Kelvin Tackie can never been installed as Ga Mantse and that "I’m excited there is a Ga Mantse in my time as president."
They indicated that Nana Akufo-Addo made specific mention of the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Ishmael Ashitey, Nii Adjiri-Blankson, a member of the Council of State, and Mr Lord Commey, the Director of Operations at the Flagstaff House, as those who had advised him to support the installation of Dr Kelvin Tackie as the new Ga Mantse.
They stressed that Nana Akufo-Addo bodly mentioned the names of these high profile personalities in the NPP government of the Ga State who came to consult him to support the installation of King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II and he complies.
The President said this on Friday, October 22, 2021, when he paid a courtesy call on the new
Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, known in private life as Dr Kelvin Nii Tackie, at the commencement of his 2-day tour of the Greater Accra Region.
"But we want to use this opportunity to tell former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo per the rightful customs, traditions, usages and culture of Ga Paramount Royal Stool, our chiefs were traditionally and customarily installed in sacred stool room and not what has been done to King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II at the private residence at Darkuman," the Ga Paramount Royal Stool elders led by spokesperson for Nii Boni Tackie Adama Latse II, Nii Tackie Commey disclosed this at press conference in Accra on Monday June 23,2025.
They stresed that Boni Tackie Adama Latse II was enstooled through the necessary customary and traditional processes saying that the stool room is first point of call.
In the case of the installation of King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Mr Commey revealed that his installation photo published in one of the dailies show clearly that "King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II was sitting on the bed in some one private room at Darkuman.
"These things the different is completely clear because Nii Boni Tackie Adama Latse was installed in the sacred stool room and all the necessary rituals performed to install him were done at the Ga Paramount Royal Stool Room.
"If you are installing your proper Paramount chief is he to be installed in your sacred stool room at Darkuman or he should be installed in the private room or house of someone,? they rhetorically asked.
"The most important things we think, recently it was retelecasted for us to see the rightful ways in the installation of one of the prominent chiefs on Ghana, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II when we all saw how he came to the place when he has to swear the oath of allegiance where all the kings and queens gathered. And that it is the same things we have been doing in Ga State.
"Our sacred customary place is called Amugi Naa.Amugi Naa is the place where the customary rites for installing a new Ga Mantse are performed. Specifically, the Ga stool rites, including the swearing of the Oath of fidelity, are conducted at Amugi Naa. So that where Nii Boni Tackie Adama Latse was taken to that place and he swears to all the people in the Ga State in full glare of the public," Mr Commey vividly explained.
He stresed that it is a fact that King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II has never been sent to Amugi Naa to swear the oath of allegiance to the traditional office holders and people in the Ga State, daring to come public to clear himself if indeed he swears oath allegiance to the chiefs and queens in the Ga State.
Without passing through these necessary traditional and customary procedures and processes, Mr Commey emphasized that it means that "you can never be a recognised as a chief to ascend the throne of Ga Mantse Royal Stool."
He reaffirmed that Nii Tackie Adama Latse II is the rightful Ga Mantse; the rest including King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II are all jokers.”
He on behalf of the accredited kingmakers, elders, and representatives of the Ga Paramount Stool Dzase firmly stated that Nii Boni Tackie Adama nly recognised principal kingmaker of Ga Paramount Royal Stool, Nii Yaote Oto-Ga II, without milliary and police protection.
He stressed that there was a no single milliary or police personnel presence among those who had witnessed and performed all the necessary Ga customary rites for the installation of Adama Latse II.
"So there was no government interference in the installation of Nii Boni Tackie Adama Latse II as Ga Mantse; rather it was when former President, His Excellency John Kofi Agyekum Kufuor came to power that we knew that the state officials of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) gave security protection for Dr Jo Blankson to be installed as Ga Mantse," Nii Tackie Commey reaffirmed.
According to him, when the unlawful installation of Dr Jo Blankson was performed at that time "Our late substantive King Nii Boni Amugi II has not been buried.
He was of the view that per "our Ga customs and usages one can never installed a chief to ascend the throne of Ga Paramount Royal Stool when the deceased chief has not been buried."
"For these reasons when Adama Latse II was presented to be installed, the Dzesetse has rejected him until we have finally buried our substantive Ga King Boni Amugi II.
"Even it is on record that Adama Latse II was
even installed as Ga Mantse getting to the end of President John Kofi Agyekum Kufuor's reign. But nobody stands against it," Mr Commey set the record straight.
"Because we were doing everything according to Ga customs and usages, during this period, nobody to tell you that we haven't been supported by the government to install our Ga Mantse," Nii Tackie Commey told the journalists at the press conference.
Mr Commey added that when former President Kufuor left power, and the then National Democratic Congress (NDC) came to power, Adama Latse II is resigning the stool although there are some chieftancy disputes being pursued in court by the kingmakers and elders.
According to him, Adama Latse II has continued to reign the Ga Paramount Royal throne without disturbances, confrontation and interference by then NDC government under both late President Prof. John Evans Atta Mills and His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama.
He pointed out that it is the fact the NPP government at any time it assumes power interferes with the installation of the Ga Mantse and determines who should be the Ga Mantse.”
“We recall with much pain and dismay the installation of the late Dr Jo Blankson as Ga Mantse under His Excellency President J.A. Kufuor’s administration with armoured cars, mobile missile launchers, water cannons and teeming armed policemen who invaded Ga Mashie to have Dr Jo Blankson installed,” he said.
According to him, the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, in accordance with custom, tradition and practice, inducted the present Ga Mantse, King Tackie Adama Latse II into the membership of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs to enable him to take his rightful place as Ga Mantse and a member of the House.
He mentioned that the current Ga Mantse, King Tackie Adama Latse, was installed as Ga Mantse by the appropriate authorities on June 11, 2011, and presented to the Ga Traditional Council for the appropriate formal processes towards recognition in accordance with the provisions of the 1992 Constitution and the Chieftaincy Act, Act 759.
He added that the Ga Traditional Council, headed by the Otublohum Mantse, Nii Dodoo Nsaki III, accepted him into the membership of the Council and duly forwarded his chieftaincy forms (CD Forms) to the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs in Dodowa for onward transmission to the National House of Chiefs in Kumasi.
“After satisfying itself about the bona fides of King Tackie Adama Latse II, the National House accepted him into office as the Ga Mantse and registered his name in the National House of Chiefs as Ga Mantse on April 24, 2015”, he added.
He said the woes of the Ga State deepened when the acting President, Nii Dodoo Nsaki III, had to relinquish power as acting chief to induct King Tackie Adama Latse into office, resulting in the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) locking up the Ga Mantse Palace in Kaneshie under the guise of protecting the Ga Mantse.
The result, he said, was the over several court cases which had been instituted against the present Ga Chief, which the Ga Mantse spokesperson noted they had won all with a final cases at the High Court and the Appeal Court in Kumasi.
Giving a background to how Dr Kelvin Tackie came into the scene, the Dzasetse said in 2010 he was rejected as one of the three applicants to be considered as Ga Mantse and the present Ga Mantse, Mr George Tackie Abia, was installed as King Tackie Adama Latse II.
“Unknown to us, the Regional Security Council was working in close cooperation with Dr Kelvin Tackie who now says he is the Ga Mantse,” he added.
The former MP noted that the name of Boni Tackie Adama Latse II was unlawfully and unjustifiably expunged from the National Register of Chiefs an that that of Kelvin Tackie inserted without any evidence of death, abdication, destoolment or judicial order to expunge Nii Boni Tackie Adama Latse II's name.
According to thim, the unlawfully situation resulted in Nii Bon Tackie Adama Latse II applying to the High Court in Kumasi for a mandamus to compil the National House of Chiefs to restore his name in the national register of chiefs as a legitimate Ga Mantse.
He stressed that the High Court in Kumasi rightfully ordered accordingly after hearing all the cases of the panties and subsequently on June 12,2025, the Court of Appeal unanimously affirmed the decision of the High Court and accordingly diminished the appeal mounted by both National House of Chiefs and the interested party.
He reaffirmed that Kelvin Tackie aka King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II is not the rightful person to ascend the Ga State throne and hence the position he is holding is an illegality
What Ga Royal eldes have demanded to know that was that is the President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II as a head referee of such institution right to appeal to the Supreme Court?.
"Is such the decision to appeal in Supreme Court against the judgment of Court of Appeal in Kumasi a collective decision of the whole House as a body,? they rhetorically asked.
The Ga Royal elders believe that the National House of Chiefs is made of well-established lawyers and judges who believe in the rule of law and will stand up to be counted.
Against this background, they appealed to the membership of the National House of Chiefs led by Paramount Chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area in the Western North Region, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II for the withdrawal of the process from both the Court of Appeal and Supreme.
The further stressed the urgent need for the current Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Hon Ahmed Ibrahim to intervene in order to uphold justice and peace in the Ga State.
They admonished all Gas to remain calm.
“We are law-abiding. We are not lawless. We believe in the operation of the rule of law. We will fight Kelvin Tackie and his collaborators and we will succeed,” they assured Ghanaians.
They attributed the chieftaincy crisis in the Ga State to political interference by some persons in the government.
Subsequently, they warned the politicians to stop interfering in Ga chieftaincy matters, saying: “The Ga Stool knows no political colour and we would want that position to be respected by the NPP government and its operatives. We want the NPP government to respect the Ga Stool, the Ga State and the Ga people.”
