Five people have been stabbed after mayhem erupted at a funeral in Apam in the Gomoa West District of the Central region.

According to eyes withness, the chaos erupted after alleged land guards believed to be coming from Ashaiman in Accra stormed the funeral sparking tension between them and the youth of the Apam town.

A gun battle ensued after the police were called in to restore order following the destruction of vehicles and other properties in the melee.

The victims are currently receiving treatment at the Apam government hospital.

Men of the community have reportedly gone into hiding fearing either arrest by the police and attack by the land guards.

Speaking to 2018 best fisherman Mr Appiah Bonsu, also a victim to the chaos whose finger was caught by a cutlass, he explained that, "the motor guys stormed our environment and begun beating our people for no reason."

"They even attacked a pregnant woman at the car station and we had no clue as of their intentions. I was called by some of our people to intervene in their acts and we gathered townsmen to the place. 

"We went to where they were headed, that is a funeral grounds and witnessed that they have been beaten the Abusuapanin and destroyed plastic chairs meant for guests. As we heated up to match them, they run and left their motorbikes behind."

The Abusuapayin who suffered severe beatings by the motor boys told soireenews that the law must deal with the boys for their recalcitrant act.
