The fuel tanker is currently in flames, shortly after the driver parked it in the middle of the Accra- Kumasi Highway, creating enormous vehicular traffic at Asiakwa.

A Fuel tanker vehicle has caught fire after it developed electrical faults just about 50 metres after Pacific Filling Station in Aiakwah, in the Fanteakwa South District of the Eastern Region.

The long tanker, yet to identify the registration number due to the extent of flames is said to be in burning for the past 20 minutes, as soon as the driver negotiated the curve and about 50 metres to Pacific petrol station in Asiakwa.

According to eyewitnesses, the Tanker vehicle loaded with fuel from Accra was heading towards Kumasi.

No casualty is reported yet and all the two persons in the fuel tanker were not hurt in the process.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service responded trying to douse out the fire in order to prevent it from exploding, and they are in the process of quenching the fire according to Nana Yaa an eye witness.

She narrated to William Ofori Akwaboa that a team of National Fire Service personnel from Asiakwa, Akyem Kyebi has arrived at the scenes doing their best to prevent the spread of the fire even though the first Water Tender has run out of water, adding that the second water tender is at post.
