The Covid-19 Frontline Health workers of the Tamale Teaching Hospital have announced to withdraw their services over nonpayment of their basic salaries.

The workers consisting of, Doctors, Nurses, laboratorians, pharmacists, orderlies, and security will embark on the strike on Friday, 12th March 2021.

“We have been forced to undertake an industrial action and withdraw our services starting Friday, 12th of March 2021.”

The health workers in a statement available to SN24 News specifies that the government of Ghana headed by President Akufo-Addo has failed to pay them 7 months’ basic salaries areas hence the strike.

“We have not received our 50% basic salary allowance as promised by President Akufo-Addo.  All efforts for authorities to make payments to us here have proven futile.”

According to them, they have not received the Covid-19 vaccination but non-health workers of the facility have been vaccinated.

“Our attention has been drawn to the fact that non-health workers are receiving the Covid-19 vaccines while we the frontline health workers here in Tamale here have no access to the vaccine.

“On this, we humbly write to inform you of our withdrawal of services in the fight against Covid-19 at the Tamale Teaching Hospital. We hope you will use your office to address the issues raised as soon as possible.” The proclamation of the health workers.
