The price of foodstuffs has gone up slightly in the markets in Dormaa of the Bono Region.

A visit by Soiree News to various markets indicates that prices have shot up because some foodstuffs are out of season.

Cassava, yam, and plantain are the main crops affected by the price hike. However, some plantain sellers are complaining about how expensive basic commodities including plantain have become expensive for some time now on the market.

They explained plantain was not on the market because it was out of season that has led to its scarcity hence the hike in prices. According to them, the situation is making life unbearable for the ordinary Ghanaians, however, they appealed to consumers to manage what was available on the market and bear with them in terms of the prices.

They said a bunch of plantains which was sold for GHC10 and GHC15 is now sold between GH¢ 50.00 and GH¢ 100.00.

They are therefore calling on the president as a matter of urgency to strenghten measures in curbing food shortages in the country, especially during drought seasons.
