Fire Guts Kwadaso Wood Market,10 Sheds Destroyed
Fire has engulfed parts of the Kwadaso Wood Market in Kumasi, destroying at least ten sheds.
Traders are trying to salvage what they can from the debris.
The fire, which started around 5:00 PM, quickly spread through the market, causing significant damage to the affected structures.
“The fire started from one of the sheds and spread to the rest,” said Adam, an affected shed owner.
"I have lost billion of Ghana cedis through the incident and we are calling on the government to help us,' another affected trader, Mr Kwadwo Adjeivi told Soireenews.com in an interview.
Firefighters are currently battling the blaze, with two tenders and approximately ten firefighters on the scene. Local residents are also assisting in the firefighting efforts, while affected traders attempt to salvage what they can from the debris.
This incident comes on the heels of the devastating fire that recently ravaged the Kantamanto Market in Accra.
