Fire Displaces 20 Residents, Destroy Property At Wassa Togbekrom
About 20 people have been displaced following a fire outbreak that struck several houses and property at Wassa Togbekrom in the Wassa East district of Western Region.
The heartbreaking incident resulted to total destructions of many valuable properties such as mobile phones, laptops, Television sets, mattresses, vital documents, clothes, huge sums of undisclosed amount of monies among other things but no human life was lost.
According to the eyewitnesses, they overheard a sudden loud explosive sound from the electricity transformer that supplies power to the entire Togbekrom community when the rain clouds had gathered around 4:30pm yesterday.
Immediately after the blasting of the ECG transformer, fire suddenly struck at one house which later aggravated to the other nearby houses leading to a total combustion of such houses and everything in it.
About 20 people have so far been rendered homeless including health professionals.
The residents tried to minimize the pressure of the fire whiles they had earlier called fire service from Golden Star Wassa Mine Limited. But unfortunately, the fire men arrived too late after everything had already burnt to ashes.
