A report gathered from Akim Oda indicates that a 10-year-old girl has been burnt to death in a fire outbreak at Akyem Gyadem Zongo near Akyem Oda in the Birim Central Municipality in the Eastern region of Ghana.

The fire incident occurred on Saturday evening, September 25, 2021, around 9 pm.

A resident told the media, that the victim together with her 4-year-old male sibling and mother were sleeping in the room when the fire caught them unaware and burnt a ten-year-old girl to death.

The mother managed to only rescue the male child when she suddenly woke up to the blaze.

She shouted for help but was too late for the daughter to be rescued by residents who first came to the scene without any fire extinguisher.

However, the fire was subsequently quenched out by residents and personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service who even though arrived at the scene late.

The charred body of the victim was retrieved and deposited at the Akim Oda Hospital morgue.

The police narrated that the mother also sustained minor injuries through burning.

Preliminary investigation by the Eastern Regional Police suggests that the fire outbreak was caused by an electrical fault.
