FIFA understands and expresses support towards eradicating Racism

The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has maintained its stand that it fully supports the fight against racism of any kind in the world and football.

The governing body of world football says it has strengthened its rules to help remove discrimination from football throughout the world.

In a statement released on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, FIFA has urged footballing bodies to use ‘common sense’ in managing expressions of support shown by players towards justice for George Floyd.

“FIFA fully understands the depth of sentiment and concerns expressed by many footballers in light of the tragic circumstances of the George Floyd case,’ it said.

“FIFA had repeatedly expressed itself to be resolutely against racism and discrimination of any kind and recently strengthened its own disciplinary rules with a view to helping to eradicate such behavior.

“FIFA itself has promoted many anti-racism campaigns, which frequently carry the anti-racism message at matches organized under its own auspices.

“The application of the Laws of the Game approved by the IFAB is left for the competitions organizers, which should use common sense and have in consideration the context surrounding the events.

According to the President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, Bundesliga players protest is a positive way of supporting the course and needs not to be frowned at following Jadon Sancho’s caution by the German Football Federation after he stood in defense for Justice for the Black American who lost his life in Minneapolis a week ago.

Sancho celebrated his hat-trick by taking off his jersey to reveal "Justice for George Floyd."

"For the avoidance of doubt, in a FIFA competition, the recent demonstrations of players in Bundesliga matches would deserve applause and not a punishment.

"We all must say no to racism and any form of discrimination."

"We all must say no to violence. Any form of violence."

Many football clubs across the world have been involved in the campaign for justice, seeking for racism to cease in a world mixed with different race.
