FIFA set to Introduce African Schools Football Championship This Year

The two best schools from each Zone will then square off for the continental championship to be hosted by Benin later in 2020.

For the very first time in Africa, FIFA is introducing a school football championship which is a Forward Funding Project.

The competition will be organized for Senior High School for both boys and girls across the continent.

The Championship is set to begin in July 2020 where each country will represent two best schools for a Zonal Championship.

The two best schools from each Zone will then square off for the continental championship to be hosted by Benin later in 2020.

This laudable initiative was revealed in Kinshasa, DR Congo where a FIFA Forward Funding workshop is being held.

FIFA is launching this competition in collaboration with the Schools Federation to help grow African Football.

Many of the current African stars played in school competitions before reaching the apex of their careers.

This competition will serve as an opportunity to discover more talents on the continent.
