Ghanaian artiste, Sista Afia, has suggested that female Ghanaian artistes don't have as much impact as their male counterparts because of inadequate support.

According to her, Nigerian female artistes have been dominating Africa in recent times because they are "well resourced". She listed the likes of Tiwa Savage, Simi, Yemi Alade, Sinach, as the female Nigerian artistes who not only make big splashes on the local scene but also go on to have significant contributions outside of Africa.

Sista Afia pointed out that even some of the prominent male artistes in Ghana are struggling to keep up with the Nigerian females while speaking in an interview with The GNA Entertainment.

"Ghanaian female musicians are doing what they can at the moment. When it comes to vocal delivery, songwriting, and stage performances, Ghana has me, Efya, Freda Rhymez, and more to boast of.

"The thing is, the Nigerians have the resources which include investors, connections, support and music exposure than Ghanaian musicians," she bemoaned.

The sensational artiste however expressed her optimism, in that things would get much better as time passes.

"We are progressing each and every day. Recently my new song with Victor AD is one of the biggest songs in Nigeria and Cameroon. I had a call from one top international musician who wants to remix his song with me.

"We are getting there gradually just that the pace is a bit slow. But as the saying goes, slowly but sure. We will get there and we hope we (female musicians) get that positive support from the media and everyone,'' she said.
