Fear God and Fix Our Roads - Residents of Yuni to Gov't*

In the Yuni Community in the Kumbungu District of the Northern Region, residents who are mostly fammers say, the road which leads to the District capital has rollercoaster.

The road has not been tar or gravelled making movement of vehicles and motorbikes challenging. This they say has affected the transportation of farm products from the community to other places for consumption and sales.

One Elder of the community, Mba Alhassan speaking to Soireenews registered their frustration over the deplorable road, indicating that they have been cut away from the rest of Kumbungu District.

"Moving to the District capital is not easy for us during raining and dry season, vehicle owners have stopped coming to this area because of the bad nature of the road, is only motorkes that always try to manage their way out of this Community to the district capital, the road has become too rough, dusty and muddy during raining season, because of that using motorbike on the road is difficult and unsafe".

"Our only job here is farming, but when ever we cultivate our farm produce, it's very challenging to move the farm products from the farm to the district, large part of our farm produce rots in the farm, we vote every elections but the politicians have turn their back on us, so am using this opportunity to beg everyone especially the politicians to fear God and come to our aid by fixing the road for us".

Chief Imam of the community, Malam Osman Sayibu also added that challenges in the area are enormous, however, the authorities should pay much attention to the road.

"During raining seasons, we hardly move from the community to the district capital, the road becomes slippery and rough with water taking over, so we are appealing to Government to do something about the road". He said.
