Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather has revealed that he still has a lot of money to get him through the Coronavirus pandemic; amount enough to take care of him and his family members.

The 43-year-old earned the nickname ‘Money’ for being one of the highest paid athletes on the planet over the last two decades and is never shy of flaunting his wealth for the world to see.

Covid-19 is set to have a devastating effect on the economy, which could see millions of families across the world struggle to make ends meet.

But Mayweather is unconcerned. In an Instagram Live chat with former NFL star Antonio Brown, the 43-year-old boasted of how he will be just fine.

Waving around £48,000 in 100 dollar bills at the screen, Mayweather said: "Even with myself, [people] are like… 'Floyd gonna end up with nothing.' I made smart investments.

"That's why, right now, with this huge epidemic, with this huge s*** going on, crazy stuff going on, my investments are still paying off.

"This is not about throwing this in nobody's face or showing up, this is saying 'I'm blessed.'

"In a recession, I can still feed my loved ones. When you're showing your $60,000, you're saying I can still feed my wife. I can still feed my children.

"And you gotta let them know."

Mayweather retired in 2017 after his victory over Conor McGregor. The 5ft 8in star finished with a perfect 50-0 record, having made around £1BILLION in prize money.

Despite his sound investments, there had been talk of a return to the ring for Mayweather this year, with a rematch against McGregor or Manny Pacquiao touted as possibilities.

However, personal tragedies have curtailed those plans, with Mayweather losing his uncle Roger and the mother to three of his children, Jodie Harris, in the space of a week earlier this month.
