The World Food Program said that a million liters of petroleum intended for use in humanitarian deliveries were stolen by Tigrayan forces from its storage facilities in Mekelle, the region's capital.

The claims have received no response from the Tigrayan forces.

The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he was shocked by the resurgence in fighting, while the US expressed concern that renewed clashes could jeopardize the progress made over the past five months.
