The Premier League has the same top two this Christmas as it did last year.

Leicester City moved to the second spot of the Premier League table after a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspurs; strikes from Vardy and Alderweireld’s own goal.

It was the second consecutive defeat for Spurs in the League; 2-1 loss to Liverpool on Wednesday and the recent.

Reguilon came in for Davies at left-back, while Ndombele took Bergwijn's spot in the starting XI. 

Bale was on the bench after missing the last two matches with injury but, despite nine subs, Dele Alli was missing on the bench.

Rodgers started Evans at defence at the expense of Fuchs, while Under comes out of the side to make was for Castagne, who was back fit after two months out with hamstring injury.

Mendy was replaced by Albrighton and Amartey made the bench after a recent hamstring problem. 

The first chance of the game fell for Fofana but he deaded it wide before the Foxes started to get a foothold and good chunk of possession after the hosts' failure to take early chances.

They were presented with another chance in the 20-minute down the right when Albrighton's cross was met by Vardy went out for a corner off Alderweireld who was tight to the striker. 

Spurs did the spells of but the Foxes sat back comfortably and waited to be presented with a chance.

Leicester were denied a penalty when Aurier blasted a cross at Castagne from point-blank range. It hit the Leicester man on the arm but tucked in against his body.

Jamie Vardy put the Foxes in front from the spot in stoppage time when Aurier gave the Blue man a massive whack in the back through a challenge.

Maddison’s second goal was denied following Justin’s long ball forward. The English international run into a gaping gap between Dier and Alderweireld took it into the box and drilled it past Lloris. VAR’s infamous lines on the pitch showed Maddison's shoulder was just ahead of Alderweireld.

Alderweireld scored an own goal to the advantage of Brendan Rodger’s side; Albrighton sent a ranging cross for Vardy who beat Sissoko to the header six yards out. 

He didn’t catch it correctly but it hit Alderweireld from close range and the Belgian diverted it into his own goal.

Chances were created by the home side through Kane and substitute, Moura but the aggressive Leicester defence prevented the final executions.

A handball as appealed five minutes to full time by the hosts after Moura sent cross struck Fofana. Spurs appealed for a penalty but referee Pawson denied and ruled it as struck the centre-back's chest.
