Zouma celebrate goal against Leeds United

Chelsea moved top of the Premier League table after a 3-1 win against Leeds United at Stamford Bridge.

Giroud cancelled Bamford’s opener before Kurt Zouma and Pulisic gave the Blues a deserving victory to welcome 2,000 fans who have been away for almost nine months due to coronavirus.

It was a dream start for Marcelo Bielsa’s side when Patrick Bamford opened the scores in the 4-minute to sink his former side.

The ball was hooked clear by Leeds and it dropped to Phillips on the left touchline. From about halfway, he curled an inch-perfect ball in behind Zouma and into the path of Bamford. Mendy rushed off his line but Bamford took the ball around him before striking into an empty net.

Chelsea almost responded five minutes later when Timo Werner got involved in Giroud’s ball heading inside the post. The Frenchman’s flick-on at the near post picked out Werner at the far post - he just had a tap in from a yard but his initial touch took the ball away from goal. he poked the ball from about four yards out onto the crossbar to miss a better chance.

Chelsea kept pressing the visitors until Giroud levelled the scores in the 27-minute. The Frenchman who scored four in the Champions League drifted in behind the Leeds defence before producing a tidy finish to convert James' cross at the near post.

Zouma made in two in the 61-minute when he connected a corner from Mason Mount. The Frenchman used his strength brilliantly to get to Mount's corner and powered a header past Meslier.

Havertz was replaced by Kovacic six minutes later as the Chelsea midfield dominated the game and kept creating chances but Werner was unlucky to have put his name on the scoresheet on the night.

Pulisic scored the third to end Leeds threat at injury time after Kovacic's pass released Werner and the German slid the ball across for the American to bundle home.

The three points take them to the top of the Premier League and they are now nine games unbeaten in the Premier League.
