Manchester United have appointed Erik ten Hag as their new first-team manager.

Manchester United disclosed this in a statement via its website on Thursday morning, April 21, 2022.

The Dutchman will take charge at Old Trafford after completing the current campaign with Ajax.

The Ajax boss will leave his current position and become United’s fifth permanent manager since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club in 2013.

The Dutchman will replace Ralf Rangnick, who has been interim manager since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked in November.

The statement read in part, “Manchester United is delighted to announce the appointment of Erik ten Hag as Men’s First Team Manager, subject to work visa requirements, from the end of this season until June 2025, with the option to extend for a further year!”

Reacting, John Murtough, Football Director, said: “During the past four years at Ajax, Erik has proved himself to be one of the most exciting and successful coaches in Europe, renowned for his team’s attractive, attacking football and commitment to youth.”

This is coming a few days after Man United’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool.
