Energy Minister assures Kasoa residents of reliable power supply

The Minister of Energy, Honourable Matthew Opoku Prempeh has assured Ghanaians that workers are working day in and night to ensure a reliable power supply.

 The Minister of Energy, Honourable Matthew Opoku Prempeh has assured Ghanaians especially the people of Kasoa and its environs to exercise patience as His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo led government is putting punitive measures in place to provide a reliable power supply in the country. 

 The Energy Minister Honourable Matthew Opoku Prempeh together with Information Minister, Honourable Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gridco amongst other dignities stormed the Bulk Supply Point( BSP) project site at Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region to inspect ongoing projects.

The BSP is to address low voltage and frequent power outage challenges caused by increasing domestic and industrial demand in Kasoa and its environs, including Senya Breku, Bawjiase and Nyanyano.

The  Energy Minister, Honorable Matthew Opoku Prempeh during his keynote address explained that the intermittent outages at Kasoa and other parts of the country "is the reason for touring GRIDCO sites to see what system improvement they are bringing."

"We were in GRIDCO three weeks ago, Pokuase and today in Kasoa for such systems improvement going on in this part of this country."  

 

Dr Opoku Prempeh assured that the Energy Ministry is bringing massive improvement to upgrade Ghana's power supply system.

"We will continue to ask for patience and forbearance, for the people working almost 90%  are Ghanaians working day in and night to ensure that the power system which has not been upgraded a long time get the needed investment to ensure a more reliable power system in the country.

"We will educate Ghanaians that indeed yes it's true, we are facing intermittent power outages.  It also indeed true that the monies and financial resources are being provided to ensure that we tackle our problems."

Moreover, the CEO of Electricity Company of Ghana, Mr Amoako Baah also explained how the power supply will be stable after completion of the BSP project at Kasoa Akwele. 

The project is at 60% completion and it's expected to be finalised by August.

The project is said to benefit 241, 508 ECG customers by vastly improving GRIDCo’s power transmission systems.
