A young and energetic Mechanic, of 23 years old has been sentenced to serve seven years imprisonment for Defilement.

Given the verdict at Asamankesse Circuit Court, presided over by His Honour Abubakari Abass Adams, the Judge of the Asamankese Circuit Court, found the 23-year-old electric mechanic culpable for defiling a primary six pupil in a classroom at Adeiso and sentenced him to seven years with hard labour.

The Police prosecutor, Sargent Samuel Owusu, told the court, the accused person resides in Adeiso while the victim is also a primary sixth pupil in Mepom, a suburb of Adeiso, and the District Capital of Upper West Akim, in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The statement indicated that the accused, Maxwell Gavor, pleaded guilty when he was charged for defilement.

He said in October 2020, the accused person met the victim at her grandmother’s funeral in Adeiso and proposed to her, which the victim initially rejected.

The prosecutor continued, that on the evening of that faithful day, around 7:00 pm, when the victim was sent to go and fetch water in a nearby house, the accused chased her and lured her into a nearby School block, and forcibly had sex with her.

When the victim was interrogated by her parents, she mentioned Maxwell Gavor as the culprit and he was later arrested and charged for defilement and sent to court for prosecution, the statement laments.
