Ekumfi Driver Killing; Two Suspects Arrested and the Missing Car Retrieved.

According to the reports gathered after the murder of a taxi driver, two persons have been arrested in connection with the killing of the Ekumfi Essakyire taxi driver who was found murdered in an uncompleted building at Ejumako Mando Senior High School.

The suspects were said to have been arrested at Pokuase in the Greater Accra Region. The taxi with the registration number GT-6188-20 was also retrieved from the two suspects.

Meanwhile, the family of the deceased appealed to the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akufo Dampare to fast track investigation to bring the perpetrators to book.

They also debunked the claim that the deceased was beheaded by the assailants.

Some of the traders and drivers also lamented over the increasing reports of bizarre killing that has erupted in the area as they fear going about their work, especially in waking up at dawn for their daily activities.

Additionally, they would take the law into their own hands to deal with any suspects they come across if proper measures are not put in place to ensure their safety.

Background of the killing.

It will be recalled that a 28-year-old Taxi Driver who went missing for three days was found dead in an uncompleted building earmarked for an SHS at Ajumako Mando in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region.

Reports gathered indicate that the deceased, Bernard Botwey, who works at Ekumfi Essakyir station was hired by three men on Saturday, October 29, 2020, to Ekumfi Abaasa but never returned.

A search party was thus organized by his colleague taxi drivers and the family but all efforts proved futile.

On Tuesday, November 1, 2022, around 2:00 PM, however, residents in Ajumako Mando upon smelling a foul scent emanating from the uncompleted building, proceeded to the scene and found the deceased naked with cuts on his neck.

His hands were also tied with a rope behind his back, and cutlass wounds were found on the body.

The taxi with the Registration Number GT-6188-20 was allegedly also stolen by the assailants.

They, therefore, reported the incident to the Ajumako District Police Command.

The scene of the crime seems to suggest the deceased struggled with his assailants.

The body has since been deposited at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation whiles the police still pursue the assailants.
