Traders in Dunkwa Ayanfuri station in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality of the central region on Monday, October, 24,2022 morning woke up to the demolition of their structures by the task force from the Upper Denkyira East Municipal Assembly.

According to the traders, although they had been informed of the plans by the Assembly to develop the area in an ultra-modern chain of stores, they were not given details on when they will be moved from the area.

"Now where they said we should go  the market was too small to accommodate the growing number of traders, the assembly should rescind it's decision to eject them and rather expand the place to accommodate the traders".

Speaking in an interview with The Rasko Report , the Traders said, the assembly should have prepared an alternative place for them to move to before carrying out the exercise.

"They also complained that the ejection by the assembly without re-location to any suitable place would deprive them of their livelihood"
Traders therefore appeals to the leaders to find a better place and take them there rather than leaving them with no alternative.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Chief Executive for Upper Denkyira East, Mr. Ebenezer Appiah Forson said, the traders had on several occasions resisted removal, saying the assembly had not done enough to provide the needed infrastructure at new market, where that have been asked to relocate to carry out their businesses.

"The demolishing structures is to pave the way for the construction of Ayanfuri station which had been left abandoned for over decades"he added.
