Dr Hafiz Bin Salih, Upper West Regional Minister, urged the Management's of the club's to encourage the youth of the area to develop much interest in football and other sports activities.

As part of an agenda to improve football activities in the Upper West Region, the Regional Minister of the Region, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih has donated football items to the manager of clubs in the area.

The items include a set of  Jerseys and footballs.

The Minister had a fruitful interaction with owners and Manager's of division two(2) football clubs in the region at the Regional Coordinating Council to unearth their challenges and where they urgently need support.

He was of the strong view of being an ardent lover of football, hence the donation to ensure the growth and development of football in the region.

He bemoaned why the Upper West Region has no representation in the Ghana Premier League, and therefore encouraged managers of the club to scale out their way into the premier league.

According to him, the situation is a great source of worry for him, and all football-loving person's in the region.

He called for all hands on deck in the football circle to help discover more talents for their various clubs.

Dr Hafiz seized the opportunity to brief the gathering about the progress of work on the new Youth Resource Center which is under construction in the Wa Municipality.

He noted that the first phase of the project is almost complete and the second phase, which includes the fence wall and other security installations will commence in earnest.

He assured that the multi-million facility when completed will be of judicious benefit to all residents and the region at large.

He mentioned that rehabilitation work will soon begin on the Wa, Tumu and the Lawra Sports Stadia very soon.

He placed an amount of Ghc 50,000 to any team that will win the division two league  Ghc30,000, second runner up and Ghc 20,000 to the team that will emerge third.

He further urged the Management's of the club's to encourage the youth of the area to develop much interest in football and other sports activities.
