Dormaa West District Donates To PWDs
The items such as fridges, industrial sewing machines, hair dryers, knapsack sprayers, motorized sprayers, chest freezers, and Fufu pounding machines, among others.
The Dormaa West District Assembly has on Friday, 12th May,2023, presented some valuable items to some Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the district to enable them to become self-reliant and not a burden to their families.
The items such as fridges, industrial sewing machines, hair dryers, knapsack sprayers, motorized sprayers, chest freezers, and Fufu pounding machines, among others.
Some PWDs also received cheques as seed capital to enable them to start their own businesses. Others also received cheques to pay for their school fees.
The move is in fulfillment of sustainable development goal 8.5, which seeks to achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men, including for young people and persons with disabilities, and equal pay for work of equal value.
Speaking at the event, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the District, Hon. Francis Kwadwo Oppong, in his speech, thanked President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo and the local government ministry for releasing funds to support PWDs
He seized the opportunity to outline the government's intention to develop the Dormaa West District.
