Dormaa West District Distribute 7000 Coconut Seedlings To Famers 

The Dormaa West District Assembly in the Bono Region on Wednesday August 24, 2022 donated over seven thousand(7000) coconut seedlings to famers aimed at improving the level of Agriculture in the District.

The Dormaa West District Assembly in the Bono Region on Wednesday August 24, 2022 donated over seven thousand(7000) coconut seedlings to famers aimed at improving the level of Agriculture in the District.

The district had heretofore distributed 5000 oil palm seedlings,8000 coffee seedlings among others to farmers in the district.
Speaking at a short ceremony held at the DCE'S residence to officially hand over the seedlings to farmers, Honorable Francis Kwadwo oppong, DCE for the area noted that the gathering was aimed at donating Coconut seedlings to beneficiary farmers who are willing to cultivate coconut to improve their livelihoods.

He said the government of Nana Akufo-Addo has drawn various intervention policies and programs to help farmers grow for the country to become self-sufficient.
He revealed that the donation of the coconut seedlings emanates from a program dubbed Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD).
He therefore, urged the beneficiary farmers to go and plant them and nurture them to be beneficial in the near future .

Honourable Francis made it known that authorities of the Assembly will liaise with the Agric. directorate to walk every nook and cranny of the district to monitor the farmers and make sure that every single seedling is planted.
On his part, the District Agric Director, Mr. Paul Avah said the government wants improvement in the Agric sector that’s why it has taken it upon itself to encourage seedlings distribution to all farmers in the district and the  Country at large. 
He advised farmers not to only center on cocoa cultivation but on other tree crops.
He appealed to farmers to make good use of the seedlings to enjoy their needed benefits.
Some of the beneficiary farmers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the government of Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo,  the Dormaa West District Assembly, and the DCE for such a wonderful intervention. 

" Now 0ne seedling is going for 10 cedis, it means if I get 100 seedlings, Nana Adddo has given me one thousand Ghana cedis. By four years I will start making huge money to cater for myself and my children. We thank the President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo- Addo and Mr. Francis Kwadwo Oppong."
