Dormaa West District Assembly Donotes To PWDs -Cautions Them Not To Sell Their Items For Fiscal Cash

The Dormaa West  District Assembly in its effort to support the government in achieving the sustainable development goal 8.5 which seeks to achieve full and productive employment for persons with disabilities, held an event at the Dormaa West District Assembly hall at Nkrankwanta (District Capital) to support some selected disabled persons in the district.

The Dormaa West  District Assembly in its effort to support the government in achieving the sustainable development goal 8.5 which seeks to achieve full and productive employment for persons with disabilities, held an event at the Dormaa West District Assembly hall at Nkrankwanta (District Capital) to support some selected disabled persons in the district. 
The event which was organized by the Department of Social Welfare of the Dormaa  West District Assembly was graced by the District Chief Executive, Honourable Francis kwadwo Oppong, the district Coordinating Director, Mr Idrisu Mahama , Honourable Kofi Yeboah Dokyiltey (presiding member), Assembly Members and some heads of department at the assembly.
At the event, items which included Fridges , industrial sewing machines,  hair driers, knapsack sprayers, motorised sprayers, Chest freezers,  cheques, computer, etc were given out to persons with disabilities in the district.
The District Chief Executive in his speech thanked the president of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo and the local government ministry for releasing funds to support PWDs.

He however,outlined the  government's intention to develop the Dormaa West District. 
He touched on the planting for food and jobs, one district one factory which are all initiatives by the government to improve the standards of living of the Ghanaian citizenry, and massive road construction throughout the country which the district is also benefiting from.
Addressing issues on persons with disabilities, he said the government has increased the amount to be given to the disabled persons from 2% to 3% in the district assembly’s common fund.

He cautioned the beneficiaries against selling of their items for fiscal cash.
 The DCE encouraged persons with disabilities to be entrepreneurial in their day to day activities in order to keep up with the pace of development in the district and in the country as a whole.

Madam  Felicia Wiafe, beneficiary thanked the president, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo- Addo and the District Chief Executive for their immense support to persons with disabilities. 
She tasked her colleague beneficiaries  to make good use of the items received .She again urged beneficiaries to engage themselves in businesses that will generate income to help improve their livelihoods.
