Consequently, the DCE called on the various. philanthropists, corporate institutions, and Individual Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) to come to the aid of the baby in the hospital.

He stressed that so far the hospital authorities have confirmed that the rescued baby is safe and healthy and needs nutrient-rich baby foods to eat and survive.
According to Mr. Frimpong, he went to the hospital facility with Dormaa West District Director of Ghana Health Service, Mr. Okyere Kwaku, Hospital Matron, Mrs. Janet Antwiwaa, and Assembly Member for Asuopri Electoral Area, Mr. Yusif Issah to check on the current condition of the new-born baby.

Mr. Frimpong stated that he decided to visit the facility to have first information of the incident which was reported to him that a newborn baby boy flushed down the water closet at Nkrankwanta refused to die as residents rescue it and were rushed to the female ward at Dormaa West District Hospital.
 
Earlier, the DCE told noted that when he was informed about the incident in the evening of Monday, March 7, 2022, he tasked the Dormaa West District Police Commander to visit the baby in the hospital on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, to find out the information about the baby. 

The DCE added that he also tasked the senior police officer to go to officially inform the officials of the Social Welfare Directorate of the area so they go to the hospital to take over the handling of the baby because it is their mandatory responsibility to do so for the mother Ghana.
 
He disclosed that the senior police officer reported to him that he got the officials of the Social Welfare Directorate of the Dormaa West District Assembly and that he would send them to the hospital and officially introduced them to the hospital authorities that they are the social welfare who was asked to take care of the baby whilst he is in the hospital.

Following this development, according to the DCE, he has officially reported the incident to the Bono Regional Minister and other key government authorities in the region of what has happened in his constituency.
 
He assured that he would sit with the management of the assembly and the Dormaa West District Security Committee (DISEC) on how best they can commit themselves to continue to protect the life of the baby to survive for the future.

He stated that the Assembly with the hospital authorities has put in place contingent measures to ensure the safety and security of the baby in the hospital.
The residents of Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa West District of Bono Region have rescued a newborn baby dumped in a public toilet.
The child was discovered by a resident who was alarmed by the cries of the baby while attending to nature’s call.
She told journalists that she trailed the sound of the baby to one of the cubicles where she discovered blood clots all over the floor and water closet.
The lady said she did not see the child immediately but as she proceeded to make reports to other residents of the bloody scene, the cries intensified from that direction.
It was during a second search that the newborn baby was discovered sinking into the water closet.
With the help of some men, the toilet was deconstructed with a pickaxe before the baby was retrieved.

The Assemblyman for the Asuopri electoral area, Yusif Issah rushed the child to the Nkrankwanta hospital, where it is currently being treated.
The Assemblyman for the Asuopri electoral area, Yusif Issah, indicated this is the second such incident to be recorded in less than a year.
He fears the crime is painting Nkrankwanta in a bad light.
But the DCE confirmed that a report has been made to the police and an investigation commenced to identify the mother of the abandoned body.
According to Mr. Frimpong, when he visited the child today, the hospital authorities confirmed to him that the body is healthy.

In this regard, the DCE assured the Assembly's commitment and readiness to take full financial responsibility for the intake of the baby in the hospital before it would be finally handed over to the Social Welfare Directorate of the area.
