Dormaa West DCE Assures  To Highten Surveillance Along Ghana-Cote D'Ivoire Borders

The Dormaa West District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Bono Region, Mr. Francis Kwadwo Oppong, has assured his outfit's commitment to heightening surveillance at the various border towns in the area to prevent the entering of terrorists from neighboring countries.

The Dormaa West District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Bono Region, Mr. Francis Kwadwo Oppong, has assured his outfit's commitment to heightening surveillance at the various border towns in the area to prevent the entering of terrorists from neighboring countries.
 
According to the DCE who doubles as the Chairman of Dormaa West District Security Committee (DISEC), not quite long ago, His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo directed that all borders should be reopened.
 
Following this directive, Mr. Oppong pointed out that he visited all the boarders in the district both approved and unapproved with members of DISEC to gain first-hand information about their operation since the opening and realized everything was smooth. 
According to him, his visit to Yaakrom, Kofi Badukrom, and Frimpongkrom, communities along the Ghana-Cote D'Ivoire borders showed clearly that their borders are safe.
Mr. Oppong disclosed this when he was speaking to the chiefs, Assembly members, and stakeholders when the Assembly held its
1st Ordinary Meeting for 2022 on Wednesday, June 29, 2022.
The Dormaa West District Chief Executive commended the security services and the District Directorate of Health for their support in helping to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
He pointed out that there were a series of Covid-19 vaccination campaigns in the district to sensitize the people to take the vaccine.
He narrated that a total of 21,850 took the first dose, eleven thousand, 11,331 have taken the second dose whiles 2,267 have taken the booster dose making a total of 35,448 vaccines given to individuals in the district. 
He added that there has been a distribution of folic acid to girls in the district that is also ongoing.
The DCE mentioned that there has been vaccination against schistosomiasis for children in the age range of 5-15 years in the communities where over 90% of children within the specified age group have been reached. 
Mr. Oppong indicated that the assembly also supported the health directorate to conduct an HIV “know your status” campaign in March of this year.
He said a nutrition-friendly initiative dubbed “fruit day” was conducted in three schools, Krakrom Methodist, Nkrankwanta Islamic, and Diabaa D/A.
The Dormaa West District is one of the twelve districts in the Bono Region, Ghana.
 
 Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Dormaa District on 10 March 1989; until the southwest part of the district was split off to create Dormaa West District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part was later elevated to municipal district assembly status and has been renamed as Dormaa Central Municipal District. 
 
The district assembly is located in the western part of the Bono Region and has Nkrankwanta as its capital town.
