The Adontenhene of Apimanim Traditional Council, Nana Atta Banafo III has said that chieftaincy must be used to drive economic growth through facilitating investments in communities.

Speaking to Central Regional Soiree News correspondent Abusuapanyin Kojo Ahinful, during the commissioning of a community center at Assin Ando, he said chieftaincy disputes and unresolved litigation hamper development.

The Adontenhene who is also the Chief of Assin Andoe, said traditional leaders (chiefs) play a major role in national development, therefore, they should not wait for government or politicians to develop their communities for them rather they must put proper mechanisms in place to create infrastructures within their reign.

He explained that infrastructural facilities such as toilets, water among others could be built through communal labours therefore chiefs should not wait for the government to provide those basic niceties.

He further counselled traditional leaders to circumvent discrimination, multiple sales of lands, and chieftaincy conflicts to allow peace to prevail to bring lasting development in various societies in Ghana.
