Ghanaian gospel musician, Uncle Ato has asked Christians to not stop giving their offerings during this Coronavirus pandemic lockdown, as this is the time it's needed the most.

The singer gave his opinion on the ongoing debate over whether or not Christians should give offerings to pastors during these times when churches have been inactive.

He stated that people are misinterpreting the art of giving offering as a means pastors use to enrich themselves stating that the ability to give is a blessing from God and if people could see it like that they would be more eager to give.

"It appears we're giving offering for giving sake but if you could remember, in church, we say 'offering time' and we respond 'blessing time'.

"So, the opportunity to give is an opportunity for God to bless. So, we should even be sad and cry that we are not getting opportunity to give'', he made known in an interview with host Abeiku Santana on Okay FM's drive time "Ekwanso Brebre".

Due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, churches and other non-essential public gatherings have been banned. This has resulted in the engagement of members in virtual services where they reach out to their members through online platforms.

During virtual services, pastors have been calling for offerings to be paid to their churches through mobile money and other various online platforms which has led to numerous debates on whether or not pastors should still ask for offerings online knowing fully well how badly hit people are during the pandemic.
