Gloria Sarfo has confessed how doing Twi-speaking movies negatively affected her brand as an actress.

According to her, English movie producers deliberately side-lined and downgraded because they felt she was too local to star in their movies due to her local language.

They did this because they thought she was uneducated due to the way she mastered her role in the ‘Twi-speaking’ Efiewura series.

Her professionalism indirectly cost her more roles in English-speaking movies due to the beef that English-speaking producers have for local producers.

“There was one thing that was affecting my brand; the fact that I was doing ‘Efiewura’. You know, we all believe in speaking English. If you do something in your local language, you are neglected. Someone told me if I did not do English movies, I wouldn’t get to play the role of a rich man’s daughter,”

The Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA) award winner she stated in an interview with Citi TV.
