Mrs. Dora Kwartemaa, Local Movie Actress

Local Movie actress, Mrs. Dora Kwarteng has expressed concerns that fall of the Local Movie Industry is as a result of some director’s inability to define a better cast for their story lines.

The Ghanaian Local Movie industry has been shattered for some time now and its enormous contribution towards the Ghana entertainment scene has been restrained due to the employment of technology through the online marketing initiative. The approach has frustrated local movie producers therefore investing into production has become a challenge due to their failure to adapt strategies to command sales and benefit from their investments.

According to the Kumawood actress, stories are projected into acts and scenes to expound events to a group of people therefore characters that are employed to convey the information is needful to be considered before shooting. She pointed Nigerian movies as informative and educative because apart from their story lines, their cast express and convey the hidden creativeness within the director’s mind to the viewers.

“Nigerian movies displays a better cast which interprets the stories best to us. If the cast is about an old man, indeed you will witness an old man, if it requires a disabled person, an incapacitated person will be featured but ours is never like that”

“The duplicate is too much. Majority of our cast occupying certain roles do not fit yet we still push them to play such roles, which is an error”

“We [refers to herself as an old and matured woman] have been employed in the movie scene to take up these roles when they arise yet we are always substituted for the young to take our roles”

“The young should adapt to characters that reveals their identity whereas older people like us must be assigned on roles that can tell our uniqueness to the people,” she said.

The matured actress also made known to Soiree News that Ghanaian Local Movies have been criticized and rejected by people too good to let it upset their homes due to the genre of dialogues installed in the movies. She made known that a friend abroad revealed how she has banned Ghanaian movies due to the abusive words, which could pervert her children when accepted in their homes. She disclosed of how often people call to advise her to guide the various directors on the words in Ghanaian Local Movies.

“Majority of the people are calling for a change in the way we abuse dialogues in our movies but I am not the director. He has invested and knows what is best, how I can advise him to change his ways?”

“Our fellow artistes will even make mockery that you want to be favored hence the counsel but it would have been for our good and our future leaders,” Maa Dora added.

“Kwadwo Nkansah [Lil Win] has won the hearts of many through the role as an old man. It belongs to him because he does it better than that of a gentleman. He fits it very well but the others are distraction to such roles”

“Let’s not use make up to disguise other people into occupying responsibilities that can be better performed by others. Nigerians will never make such an error.” She added.

Mrs. Dora Kwarteng told Soiree News that she joined the movie industry after been advised by a doctor to find pleasure in movies to avoid putting much of her time into thinking which was causing disorder in her system due to hardship. She took the instruct of the doctor and approached Mr. Samuel Nyamekye of Miracle Films when an announcement was being made for audition on Radio.

Maa Dora has featured in lots of movie including Obaapa, No fears, Area Burger, Time changes and many others. She revealed to Soiree News that she has racked up almost 50 movies to her credit.
