The Volta regional director of the Electricity Company of Ghana, Mr Emmanuel Lumor has cautioned people who are still enjoying electricity power illegally to quickly stop it or else the company will soon grab them for prosecution.

He said using the power without the notice of the company is unlawful hence anyone in need of power should pass through the right procedures at the ECG to get connected than doing their own connection that will not reflect on the company’s system. 

Mr Lumor has been speaking during a brief meeting held with market leaders of Ho central market in the Volta region, where they schooled the traders on safe usage of power, service acquisition, effects of illegal connections and measures to avert fire outbreaks in market areas.

According to him, anyone who has any challenges regarding the connection of light in the market must seek the concerns and approval of the Electricity Company of Ghana for them to recommend a professional electrician to work for them.

Making reference to the previous markets fire outbreak in Kumasi and other big markets in the country, he mentioned that, some of these are due to lack of maintenance and illegal connection by some traders.

About 100 traders who participated in the education pledge to work with them in case they need any work to be done for them in the market that needs power.

Some of them have appealed to the Officials to always respond to them early when they need metres in the market.
