Deputy Tourism Minister unveils Arts market Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Honourable Mark Okraku Mantey earlier today unveiled a market known as Amaga Djano to wit Arts Market at the National Theatre in Accra.

The said market will serve as a platform to congregate made-in-Ghana products including artifacts, clothing, and other accessories which has been strategically situated at the premises of the National Theatre to catch the attention of the general public. Cutting the sod for the official opening of the market, the Minister challenged exhibitors to strive for excellence to expand their scoop to reach a larger market. According to the Minister, there is no difference between art space in Ghana and that of Europe, therefore, urging the exhibitors to do more. "I see that the notion is just to have a small store but I do not see any difference in what you do here and what I see in Europe whose market is an expanded one", he noted. Mr. Mantey further observed that the novel initiative has come to mitigate the dwindling image of the National Theatre whose environment used to paint an awful look.

He entreated the exhibitors to grow the initiative to generate the needed jobs and other benefits. The Minister added saying, "the most important thing is how you make this initiative grow", he stressed further. The minister maintained that the greatest attraction of a group of people is what they wear adding, " which means we can portray our rich Ghanaian identity to the world through what we wear. Wear Ghana has come to stay and is now embraced by tourists and corporate entities". The initiative is in line with the National Theatre strategic goals to inspire artistic experiences and to engage to catch the Ghanaian communities. The National Theatre in collaboration with Snap Entertainment promises to provide a unique shopping experience that have Arts and Culture will provide information on goods sold.

On his part, a Board Member of the National Theatre, Nana Fridua admonished the exhibitors to take the security of the Art Market seriously as the market could be prone to criminals.

He added that that responsibility must be a collective one adding, be your  brother's keeper.

For the Director of Creative Arts at National Commission on Culture, Socrate Safo urged the exhibitors to make the most out of the Novel Arts Market.

He said if it is done , they(the exhibitors will reap the dividends of their investment and in effect make the market a big deal.
