Gifty Ampofo who doubles as the Deputy Minister for Education in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) was embarking on the my first day at school visitation to the fresh KG1 pupils in her Constituency.

The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency in the Eastern Region, Gifty Twum Ampofo has condemned the vandalism and destruction of school properties by some students of Krobea Asante Technical and Vocational Institute in the Ashanti Region.

She described their behaviour as uncalled-for and shouldn’t be entertained in the education sector saying, no matter what the situation may be, it is not right for students to take the law into their own hands to vandalise their school's properties.

Having condemned their bebehaviourshe noted that, she is against the punishment of dismissing students for offences committed because it has the potential of destroying their future.

Inspection of the ongoing 3-unit classroom block at Tafo SDA Junior High School with 6-seater Water Closets. 

However, she suggested they can be punished in organotherapy rounds after investigations have been conducted to serve as a deterrent to others.

She also used the opportunity to inspect the ongoing 9 Educational infrastructure in the area.

She then calls parents, clergy and traditional leaders to advise students to desist from such bebehaviourecause gov’t have invested heavily in Free Senior High School and it is their responsibility to protect the educational infrastructure and equipment

In addition, the Education Director for Abuakwa North Municipality, Abena Gyemerah commend the MP for donating learning materials to fresher students to help ease some burden of their parents.

She added that the Abuakwa North Municipality doesn’t have a problem with teacher deficit and was grateful to Gifty Twum Ampofo for lobbying for more educational infrastructure for the area.
