The Sefwi Wiawso government hospital superintendent, Dr Jonathan Mensah, has stated that the delay in attending hospital is applicable for worsening maternal and child health.

Usually, the sick are unwilling to visit health facilities for check-ups while others too stay at home for the condition to get worse before reporting to the hospital.

Some pregnant women sometimes go to the prayer camp for delivery instead of them to consult the doctor first.

Per the words of the doctor, the poor road network of some places also worsens maternal and child health.

Dr Jonathan Mensah, speaking with Soireenews reporter Nattybongo added that health workers should not prescribe any drug to patients that will cause harm to their health.

According to him, health workers should follow the right precautions when dealing with patients.

He emphasized that "our hospital facilities and environment should be kept clean to prevent the equipment and the drugs from damage."

He advised nurses to use the right equipment when dealing with patients to avoid getting infections with other diseases from the hospital.
