DCE rejects streetlight project over shoddy work

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asunafo South in the Ahafo Region, Mr. Osei Bonsu Snr. Has refused to commission a street light project is carried out by Gaps Construction Company Limited at Kukuom.

This follows a series of complaints from the people of Kukuom accusing the DCE of embezzlement of public funds hence a shoddy work done by the contractor.

Speaking to the media, the MCE said he rejected the project because the contractor had indeed done sloppy work.

"I refused to commission the Kukuom streetlight project because the contractor did a shoddy work.”

“The people of Kukuom have been insulting me that I have chopped the street light money. Again chiefs and elders have also summoned me to give reasons why the contractor did that shoddy work so I needed to reject the project to re-fix the street lights,” the MCE explained.

He bemoaned that the street lights do not even bright in the night and that clearly indicates that the contractor did substandard work.

“Look at the lights, it doesn't bright at night, you can't even see a big animal like an elephant at night when the street lights are switched on. I will not commission this light project until the right thing is done."

He has pledged to make sure that the Gaps Construction Company Limited does the correct job.
