DCE Commissions Awutu-Senya West District NIHS Office
The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Stephen Quaye called on the Management of the National Health Insurance Authority to urgently give the NHIS office a District status so that they can operate on their own and provide their own cards.

Residents of the 152 towns and villages in the Awutu-Senya West District of the Central Region have commended the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Stephen Quaye for the instrumental roles played leading to the construction of the ultra-modern National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS)office in Awutu Bereku Traditional Area to improve healthcare delivery systems.
According to inhabitants, since the appointment of the DCE in the year 2017 by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Mr Quaye has demonstrated an increasing commitment to being innovative in health care delivery systems of over 1,5000 of the population in the district.
The residents made the commendation during the commissioning of the NHIS office at Awutu Bereku.
The office which was equipped with modern health insurance equipment and materials was built by the Awutu Senya West District Assembly through the instrumentality of the current DCE.
Speaking in an interview with this reporter today Wednesday, June 16, 2021, Mr Quaye stated that when he took over the administration of the affairs of the Assembly and visited all the 152 towns and villages of the 24 electoral areas within the District, he realized that the card bearers of the NHIS were struggling with easy access to register for the NHIS since they under the Winneba NHIS.
He noted that having seen the challenges confronting the people in the area, he promised to build the Health Insurance offices to help residents get registered onto the scheme so as to have access to quality healthcare.
He noted that the facility is part of his promise to ensure healthcare delivery systems for his people.
According to him, he used the Internally Generated Funds (IGF) and solicited funds from filling stations and some business entities in the area for the construction of the facility.
He called on the Management of the National Health Insurance Authority to urgently give the NHIS office a District status so that they can operate on their own and provide their own cards.
He told Soireenews that currently, there are over 3,000 card bearers out of the population of 15,000 and given the District status, they can increase membership onto the scheme.
The DCE also called on residents who are not yet registered onto the Scheme to avail themselves for registration for them to be able to access healthcare delivery services.
The DCE has within the past three and half years executed a number of development projects to help improve the livelihoods of people living in the area.
