Damongo Muslims Celebrated Eid Ul Adha unanimously at the West Gonja Municipality
The Chief Imam of Damongo, Sheik Amadu Mushie right after his sermon slaughtered a ram to open the way for the Muslim Umar to also slaughter.
The Muslim community in Damongo this year unanimously Celebrated the Eid ul Adha across the Islamic divide in the town.
The Chief Imam of Damongo, Sheik Amadu Mushie indicated that he called all the sub-areas Imams to an emergency meeting last night to discuss the Eid prayers with them and they all unanimously agreed to offer it on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.
According to the Chief Imam, the Damongo has 8 sub-Imams and he led the Central mosque congregants at the Town Park. The prayers lasted for about 45minutes.
The Eid celebration is in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim wanting to slaughter the son and Allah spoke to him through a dream and at the verge of fulfilment, Allah in His wisdom provided the prophet with a ram to rather a slaughter. So animals are slaughtered in fulfilment of such remembrances as ram, bull or camel.
The prayers at the town park have graced the Overlord of Gonja Yagbonwura Sulemana Tuntunba Boresa I, the Member of Parliament for Damongo Constituency Hon Samuel Abu Jinapor, the Savannah Regional Minister hon Saeed Muhazu Jibril among some other stakeholders of the town.
The Damongo has always offered Eid prayers a day after the United Arab Emirates prays but this year is exceptional because they offered in conformity with the rest of the world.
