Nigeria's Coronavirus confirmed cases nears 60,000 as 155 fresh cases were recorded. 

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced this in a tweet on its official twitter handle on Wednesday night.

It said the COVID-19 national death toll in the country remains 1,113.

NCDC tweeted: "On the 7th of October 2020, 155 new confirmed cases were recorded in Nigeria.

"Till date, 59738 cases have been confirmed, 51403 cases have been discharged and 1113 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The agency said that eight states reported the 155 new infections.

Lagos State recorded the highest new infections with 84 confirmed cases, followed by Rivers and Kaduna with 31 and 12 new cases, respectively.

Ten cases were found in Osun, seven in FCT, Oyo, six, while Ogun and Kwara had three and two confirmed cases, respectively.
