The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon Simon Osei-Mensah has asserted that government is doing everything possible to make sure that the COVID-19 is restrained to maintain Ghanaian lives.

The Ashanti Region on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, underwent second-time disinfection and clean up exercise in the various markets. The activity took place simultaneously between 330 and 350 markets in 46 Districts including the Bantama, Nhyiaeso, Manhyia, and Subin sub Metros.

In a press briefing, before the exercise began, the Regional Minister made known that government is embarking on the various exercises at market places to overcome the economic burden created by the virus and empower trade.

“In fact with the onset of the COVID- 19 virus which has bedeviled the whole world and creating a lot of social, economic and financial problems for the various countries, the president of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has come out with various steps and measures to make sure that we contain and ultimately end this virus in the country,” he said.

“Some of the measures is the cleanup and disinfection exercise. This is not the first time it’s happening. It did take place a few months ago where there was disinfection of all markets and lorry parks which was followed up with cleanups and fumigation.”

Hon. Simon Osei Mensah applauded the Media and Zoomlion Ghana Limited for their support through informed publications and commitment towards the government’s activities and prayed that such assuring support would be stimulated to help progress the region and Ghana as a whole.
