Covid-19: Ghana’s Case Count Nears 13,000 with 4,468 Recoveries

Ghana’s case count of the coronavirus disease has risen to 12,929

This was announced by Dr Badu Sarkodie of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in a press briefing on covid-19 case management today [June 18, 2020]

According to the new data shared by the GHS, the number of people who have recovered are now 4,468.

Death toll remained at 66.

Dr Badu Sarkodie noted that, from the current active covid-19 cases (8,395), "14 cases are severe but not on ventilators, while four others are in critical condition using ventilators"

A total of covid-19 261,319 tests have conducted so far in Ghana.

Meanwhile, in related developments, the Ashanti Region is said to be running out of the capacity to handle additional exponential coronavirus infections as hospitals experience a shortage of beds.

Ashanti Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Emmanuel Tinkorang, said on Wednesday,[June 17, 2020]  that “almost all the treatment centres are now full”.
