Covid-19:  Desist From Mass Testing Unless Authorized – Central Regional Health Directorate Orders

The Central Regional Directorate of the Ghana Health Service has outlined some rules to guide the operation of health facilities in the region amid the worsening pandemic crisis.

The Regional Directorate ordered all health facilities and districts to desist from mass testing of any group of individuals unless they are authorised by the Director-General.

However to avoid more fatalities, advised that all suspected cases within the region be managed as Covid-19 cases until awaiting results proves otherwise.

“All suspected cases of Covid-19 for whose results are awaiting, should be managed as Covid-19 cases to avoid mortalities. In the event that the test result come out as negative, the other cause of the condition should be investigated and treated” a statement signed by the Regional Director said.

Currently, the Central Region has recorded 694 cases of the total 12,193 confirmed in Ghana, making the region the fourth highest with the virus.
