COVID-19: 344 dead in the Ashanti Region, none was vaccinated

The Ashanti Region has also recorded 34 active cases in 16 affected schools.

344 persons have died from the COVID-19 pandemic in the Ashanti Region, the Regional Health Directorate has updated.

Per the account of the Ashanti Regional Health Director, Dr. Emmanuel Tenkorang, none of the dead persons has jabbed hence his advice to the populace to seriously take the vaccination exercise seriously in search a time.

He told that the Region has received 50,400 doses of Johnson and Johnson vaccine as part of measures to curb the dreadful coronavirus pandemic and according to him, 11,000 people have been vaccinated so far in the Ashanti Region since August 15, 2021. He has therefore appealed to Ghanaians to be actively involved in the vaccination.

He further informed that although the number of infection of the third wave is declining yet the rate at which people are dying is high, he thereby advice to the public to make sure the various health protocols are observed.

The vaccines have been stationed at 4 districts; Asokwa, Kwadaso, Oforikrom and Kumasi Metro.

The Ashanti Region has also recorded 34 active cases in 16 affected schools; 11 Basic schools, 4 Senior High Schools and 1 Tertiary. Approximately, 53% of active cases are in 2 schools; UEW-K (Kwadaso) 11 cases and Afari D/A JHS (Nwabiagya South) 7 cases.
