Court fines   For unsanitary condition.

The Ashaiman circuit court within the Ashaiman municipality of the Greater Accra Region has sentenced Jibril Awudu to a fine of 50 penalty units totaling GHS600.00 failing which he would serve a 30 day jail term in hard labour.

Jibril Awudu was found guilty of the offense preferred against him by the court presided over by His Honour Richard Delali Anku for allowing insanitary  drain with refuse contrary to paragraph (8) of the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly's protection of roads bye-laws 2017.

Prosecuting: Kartey George told the court that the accused person who is a trader at Bukom along the main road of Ashaiman was found keeping an insanitary condition.
He said on March 5,2022 at about 9:35am,the Environmental Health Officers from ASHMA were on operation clean your frontage found that the accused person's drain was choked with refuse and sand.
He said Health Education was given and a constructive notice was issued the accused to desilt the grain, collect and dispose off the refuse immediately from the road and report to police the following day.
But unfortunately on the 23 March, 2022, a follow-up was made by the officers only to fine out that the accused had disobeyed the instruction of the officers.
The accused was subsequently served with a summons to appear before this honourable court leading to his sentence.
