The opposition NDC has urged the Electoral Commission to take immediate steps to address challenges regarding the electoral roll before the December 7 polls.

This comes after it emerged yesterday, December 1, that some persons could not find their names in the list yesterday, during the special voting exercise..

A Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Peter Boamah Otokunor, during an interview on Citi News, said such anomalies must be rectified to avoid major challenges on December 7.

“It is important to identify the few challenges that have riddled this exercise and make sure you put measures in place to resolve it because most of the challenges that confronted the system if it should happen on election day, that will be a bit problematic.”

The special voting exercise took place in all 275 constituencies across the country.

Meanwhile has warned electorates against taking photos of their ballots after voting.

This comes after some videos circulating on social media showed some early voters displaying their ballots after participating in the special voting exercise.

The Commission said persons who are caught taking photos of their ballots will be arrested by security operatives.

the EC’s Director of Electoral Services, Dr Serebour Quaicoe said this, during an interview on Citi FM's Eyewitness News.

“If you finish and you tell people who you voted for, that is fine but it is an offence for you to take photos of it and be showing it to people. That breaches the secrecy of the ballot. In the view of the law you can be arrested,” he said.
